Kinam Park, Ph.D. is the Showalter Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Engineering & Professor of Pharnaceutics. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Controlled Release, and a member of the editorial boards of twelve journals. He has received a number of awards and honors starting from the NIH New Investigatro Research Award in 1986 to the Founders Award from the Controlled Release Society in 2004.
Dr. Park's research has been focused on the use of various polymers and hydrogels for controlled drug delivery. His current research includes development of new microencapsulation methods based on the solvent exchange method, development of alternative fast melting table delivery, and application of layer-by-layer coating methods for making drug-eluting stents. He has published more than 200 papers and chapters, and presented 150 abstracts at national and international meetings. He has also made more than 150 invited lectures throughout the world. He co-authored and co-edited 6 books in the area of controlled drug delivery, and edited special journal issues in the area of protein- and cell-repellent surfaces and in the area of hydrogels. He has trained more than 60 Ph.D. graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
