Controlled Release of Tracer Compounds for Inflow Monitoring in Oil Wells

An inflow monitoring system for oil wells was developed based on imbedding or incorporating a tracer compound as part of a polymer material1. The tracer system releases the tracer into well fluids, either oil or water, so qualitative or quantitative information about the inflow profile could be estimated and utilized to enhance production in the oil well and oil recovery in the field.
