Summary
In the development of controlled release processes, the role of the laboratory scientist is often seen as ending with the preparation of laboratory or pilot plant generated materials. The matter of costing large scale production amounts is left to the chemical engineers and accounting personnel. There is, however, no such simple disconnect. The development of laboratory scale materials strongly influences the cost and manufacturing of the final product.
