Summary

We have employed Raman spectroscopic imaging to investigate in real time and in-situ the dissolution mechanisms that underpin amorphous solid dispersions of poorly water soluble felodipine in a polymeric matrix of Kollidon VA64. It was found that the increase of the drug loading in the formulation leads to re-crystallisation of the active ingredient, negatively impacting the dissolution performance.
