Maria José Silveira concluded her PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biotechnology Applied to Health Sciences at the faculty of Pharmacy and ICBAS, University of Porto (PT) in 2024, in collaboration with the University of Twente (NL) and Health Research Institute of Santiago de Compostela (ES). Her research interests lie at the interface between nanomedicine and immuno-oncology, including biomaterials, targeted drug delivery for solid digestive tumors and tumor microenvironment immunomodulation. Her main work developed in this area has resulted in 3 awards, 6 peer-reviewed articles and 25 international communications. She was recently awarded the Seal of Excellence for the 2025 MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship and serves as a peer reviewer for top-ranked Q1 journals (e.g., Journal of Nanobiotechnology) and international scientific conferences. Since her early academic training in Biomedical Laboratory Sciences at CESPU (PT), she has been actively involved in science communication through student associations and conference organization. This commitment has continued throughout her career, contributing to the organization of several national and international scientific conferences and workshops. She later completed her MSc at UA (PT), pursued postgraduate training in Pathology and Molecular genetics at ICBAS (PT) and was a Biomedical scientist at CHBV (PT), contributing to diagnostic and research projects in the field. She is also enrolled in several Scientific Societies (e.g., CRS, ASPIC, EACR) and Technical Committee activities (CRS YSC), was part of the Advisory Committee of the Doctoral Program in Molecular and Cellular Biotechnology Applied to Health Sciences of ICBAS, University of Porto and was an i3S PhD student representative in Portuga
