Bioinspired and Biomimetic Delivery Focus Group at Annual Meeting
Dear Controlled Release Society Members,
As an active researcher in the field of Biomimetics and Bio-inspired Drug Delivery and a 40-year member of the Controlled Release Society CRS), I am very pleased to be one of the first members of the new, Bio-inspired and Biomimetic Drug Delivery (BBDD) Focus Group. When I heard of the formation of this new group, I was excited at the potential that it has for members who are interested in this exciting field of research. I wanted to share with all of you the reasons that I will be attending the inaugural Focus Group events at the CRS Annual Meeting in New York.
The first thing that struck me about this focus group was the quality of the programming at the Annual Meeting. We will have a special BBDD-based scientific program on Sunday July 22nd (3 - 5 pm in Sutton Center), in which Dr. Samir Mitragotri of Harvard will deliver a Keynote Talk on “Bioinspired and Biomimetic Strategies for Drug Delivery”. In addition, we will award the inaugural Focus Group Young Investigator Award and the Grad Student/PostDoc Award at the Scientific Session, which is a superb opportunity for the younger generation to be recognized for their excellent research in the field. We will also hold our first Social Event for Focus Group members on Monday evening (from 8:30- 10:00 pm in the Beekman Room), which will provide opportunities for you to meet and network with field leaders in the area of Biomimetic and Bio-inspired Drug Delivery. I will be delighted to see you at this event. Finally, as a member of the BBDD Focus Group, you will be able to attend the membership meeting on Monday morning (7 – 8 am in the Morgan Room with coffee provided) so that you can personally participate in the future directions of the Focus Group and even learn how to run for elected leadership positions in the Focus Group in the future.
In the first year, membership in all Focus Groups is absolutely free of charge for all CRS members.
Please click on the link in this email to register for free and take advantage of all that the Focus Group has to offer you this year at the New York Annual Meeting and beyond. I look forward to seeing you in person in our Focus Group events this July in New York.
Sincerely Yours,
Nicholas A. Peppas, ScD
