Nanomedicine and Nanoscale Drug Delivery Focus Group at Annual Meeting

Dear Members of the CRS Community,

I am excited to be one of the first members of the recently established Nanomedicine and Nanoscale Drug Delivery Focus Group from the Controlled Release Society! This initiative is a fantastic opportunity to further pursue the goals of the Society and increase awareness to the increasingly relevant role of nanotechnology in multiple areas of healthcare, from drug delivery to diagnostics and beyond. The establishment of this Focus Group will provide its members with the opportunity to participate in relevant discussion and important networking with leaders in the field, regardless of their career stage.

I am also very excited to attend the inaugural Focus Group events at this year’s Annual Meeting. The events will start with our first membership meeting*, which will be a chance for us to establish contacts and share our ideas for advancing the Group. We will also go over the planned activities of the Focus Group, including a periodic newsletter with advertisement of relevant news, events and research papers in the field of nanomedicine, and also outline the social media platforms that are already in use. On Monday night, we will also hold a social event** to get to know each other better and celebrate the establishment of all of the new Focus Groups.

Also, as an important landmark of scientific activities of the Focus Group, the program of the 2018 CRS Annual Meeting includes a Scientific Session*** that is devoted completely to Nanomedicine and Nanoscale Drug Delivery. The speakers will include a selected pool of outstanding works submitted to this years’ Congress and Dan Peer will be the Keynote Speaker of the session. We will also present our newly established Young Investigator Award and also a Trainee (Grad Student/PostDoc) Award, that will recognize the efforts of the best and brightest in our community, in the nanomedicine and nanotechnology field.
