Hannah Zierden is a Ph.D. candidate in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Johns Hopkins University under the supervision of Drs. Laura Ensign and Justin Hanes. Her research focuses on women’s health issues, specifically improving understanding and prevention of preterm birth. She develops mucus penetrating nanoparticles of novel drugs for vaginal delivery, which can be used to probe biological mechanisms that lead to preterm birth. Hannah hopes to one day pursue a career in academia. Outside of the lab, she enjoys running, hiking, scuba diving, and traveling.
