PhD candidate
Maria José Silveira is a PhD candidate at University of Porto (PT), in collaboration with the University of Twente (NL). Her research interest is at the interface between nanomedicine and immuno-oncology, including biomaterials, targeted drug delivery nanomedicines for solid tumors and drug delivery approaches for tumor microenvironment immunomodulation. Her main work developed in this area has resulted in a Cost action and a CRS Young Scientist Travel Grant, in 5 peer-reviewed articles and more than 25 international communications. Moreover, she’s recently been a Visiting Researcher in University of Twente University, NL and at Health Research Institute of Santiago de Compostela (IDIS), ES. Through her early academic journey, as a BSc student at the Laboratory Biomedical Sciences from CESPU, she’s always been interested in sharing scientific knowledge by participating in the organizing committee of conferences as well as in the Students Association. Furthermore, she took her MSc degree at UA (PT), did a post-graduation course in Pathology and Molecular genetics at ICBAS (PT) and was a Biomedical scientist at CHBV (PT). She is also enrolled in several Scientific Societies (e.g., CRS, ASPIC, EACR) and Technical Committee activities (CRS YSC), is part of the Advisory Committee of the Doctoral Program in Molecular and Cellular Biotechnology Applied to Health Sciences of ICBAS, University of Porto and was an i3S PhD student representative in Portugal.
