Sarah McColman
Postdoctoral fellow at the University of Toronto
Sarah McColman is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Toronto and the Keenan Research Centre at Unity Health Toronto. She completed her BSc in Biochemistry at the University of Calgary and recently obtained her PhD in Molecular Science at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), studying biomolecular interactions involving lipid-based nano-systems with a special focus on developing nanoparticle models of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Her current research focuses on nanomedicine and its applications within fetal and maternal medicine, specifically improving in vitro models of the placenta and developing prenatal therapeutics. She is passionate about gender and racial equity in biomedical research and her career goals surround research relevant to the health of women and people with female biology.
She serves as Communications Director for the Science to Business Network (S2BN) Toronto, where she organizes events that bring together scientists and industry professionals to share insights and build connections. Outside of the lab, she enjoys traveling, making things with her hands, and eating great food."
